"Melandri will leave if things do not improve."

Marco Melandri admits that Ducati is ready to step aside if his form does not improve.
Marco Melandri said that he was prepared step beyond Ducati if you can not find the form required to record the results that he and the team are still waiting.

Melandri has endured a torrid start to the season of MotoGP from step to the works Ducati, the Italian ills is compounded more recently in the British Grand Prix when he finished outside the points and almost a lap down on race-winning team mate Casey Stoner.

Along with the fact that Melandri has scored only 29 points - to Stoner's 117 - has recently raised speculation that he could be destined for the axe before the season.

Significantly, though, according to Reuters Melandri has admitted that he is prepared to jump before being pushed if you can not find a way to be compatible with the bicycle.

"My style is the opposite of what this bike requires," he said. "I feel like I'm in the wet, even when it is dry. I do not know (if my future is with Ducati). My contract runs for two years and relations are good."

In fact, the position of Melandri on the team has been under the purview called shortly after former Ducati rider Sete Gibernau to test before round Donington Park. Rumours are circulating now that could be destined for a shock return from retirement.

Although it is unclear whether Gibernau that a third career Ducati or replace Melandri, the Italian hinted that he will walk until someone can do better if they can.

"I think we need to find the most logical way for both sides. If things go wrong for too long, not in their interests or mine. If someone can do better than me, I'm willing to accept it."
