"MotoGP » Hayden wants to race pneumatic."

Nicky Hayden said that he saw enough to want to race Honda pneumatic-valve engine as soon as possible, after a promising career simulation on day two of the Catalunya test.

Nicky Hayden overcame rain during the second and final day of the test Catalunya to put the latest version of the Honda problems with pneumatic valve engine through a simulated race.

Hayden and Repsol Honda Team-mate Pedrosa had planned to spend two days testing in-depth making back-to-back runs between the current spring-valve engine and the new pneumatic valve engine to determine whether the new engine is ready for them for use in the upcoming British Grand Prix.

But Pedrosa bruised his back during a nasty highside Monday, while traveling with the standard engine, leaving Hayden - who made the most of winter testing Repsol Honda after Pedrosa fractured a hand in Sepang - to travel alone in the second and last day .

The American followed back-to-back tests between the two engines on Tuesday, where he lived "a few problems' with the tire - but also gave a promising career simulation, with an average of 1mun 42secs high and low 1min 43secs laps , A second faster than he had achieved on his way to eighth on Sunday in the Catalan Grand Prix.

Speaking later, the 2006 world champion has confirmed that a "feeling better" when using the tire engine - to set the chassis of 2008 was originally designed - and wants to race the new engine as soon as possible.

"The weather definitely was not cooperative today. A few more showers every hour would only make things wet enough so that we could not get the job done everything we wanted, but that is how the time goes," said Nicky, Tuesday after completing 43 laps.

"But that rode the new engine much of the day, I tried to do is mark, but we had a few problems with him, that was frustrating. He also worked on trying to make the best engine for a long time.

"I made a career of over 20 laps and was able to stay very consistent which was good. We liked having more time with him, but I've seen enough that I like. I have a better feeling with pneumatic valve engine, so we look forward to racing as soon as the kids say it's ready, "he added.

But Repsol Honda team manager Kazuhiko Yamano cree que pneumatic valve engine is not yet ready for factory corridors race.

"Nicky was impressed with the pneumatic valve engine this afternoon but we believe that further adjustment of its electronics is required to improve the overall race distance performance," he said. "If we can complete this work before the British Grand Prix, then Nicky want to use the engine at Donington. Otherwise we hope to use the engine in the Dutch TT next weekend."

MotoGP world champion, Casey Stoner, fastest on Monday, was once again the fastest in just over attended the second day of evidence. Rookie Andrea Dovizioso was second fastest with Hayden third (+0375 seconds Stoner).

Pedrosa should be fully fit to ride at Donington Park on June 22, but having completed only 10 laps Monday with the motor tyre, the Spanish has little information on which to make an informed decision about the new machine.

After injuring his hand in January, Pedrosa said he was "somewhat concerned" to leave only Hayden VN development and therefore are unlikely to seek the opinion of americas.

Tady Okada, who gave the pneumatic valve engine its debut in MotoGP as a wild-card in Mugello, said the tire has over 1000 rpm compared with the spring valve engine, although the delivery of power and edge grip - particularly during a career of filling distance - remains a concern.

Pedrosa's victory Sunday at the Catalan Grand Prix marked its second victory of the season and sixth podium in seven starts. The Spanish is now just seven points behind world championship leader Valentino Rossi.
