"MotoGP: Lorenzo suffers from skin graft"

Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo will leave the hospital within 24 hours after undergoing successful surgery on his injured right hand and further neurological checks in Barcelona today.

The 21-year-old has undergone a skin graft in the fourth and fifth fingers of his right hand. The renowned specialist Dr Xavier Mir party carried out the operation at the Dexeus Institute, using skin
Lorenzo's right wrist.

A final CAT scan also confirmed that the novice MotoGP has fully recovered from concussion, but still can not fully remember the moments immediately before the crash in the second free practice session of the Grand Prix of Catalunya last Friday.

Dr Mir has recommended a new night under observation before a full week of complete rest.


Lorenzo MotoGP hospitalized after crash

Jorge Lorenzo was injured during the second session of free practice for the Grand Prix of Catalunya on Friday and taken by helicopter to hospital.

Lorenzo is in obvious discomfort after being lifted into an ambulance after his accident.

Lorenzo, who is third in this season of MotoGP positions behind Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedroza, lost control of his Yamaha 14 minutes at the meeting and appeared to briefly lose consciousness after the fall.

The Spanish rider was in obvious pain, holding his right hand as he was led from stretcher to the helicopter.

Lorenzo, who fractured bone in his ankle a month ago in Shanghai, was flown to hospital Dexeus of Barcelona, the Circuit de Catalunya in a statement.

Xavier Mir, the doctor who operates in Lorenzo's ankles, told reporters that the cyclist would be submitted to a scan of the brain and may not be able to race on Sunday.

Rossi leads the series with 122 points, Pedrosa is second with 110 and Jorge Lorenzo was third with 94.
