"MotoGP » Stoner stays top, Melandri rides GP9."

Casey Stoner stays in the foreground during the second and final day of MotoGP testing in Catalunya, teammate Marco Melandri 2009 Ducati rides for the first time.

MotoGP world champion, Casey Stoner completed a perfect sweep of the post-Catalan Grand Prix test by holding the top spot during a rain interrupted second and final day.

The Ducati Marlboro star, who had an early version of the Desmosedici 2009 at the top of time with a qualifying tyre on Monday, just 0.647secs slower overlapped with tyres equipped to race this year GP8 on Tuesday - when bad weather limited time.

Despite the less-than-perfect condition of the runway, the Australian was able to try out some new electronic solutions and considered the yield curves was markedly improved.

"I'm happy, even though the conditions are not as good as yesterday we managed to complete the work he had planned with the GP8," said said Stoner, who qualified in pole for Sunday's career, which came to end in third place behind Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa.

"We were able to test a new configuration electronic markedly improved my feeling in the corners where we had problems over the weekend. Even though the track was not in good shape because of rain yet to establish good times back and I can not Barcelona leave feeling satisfied and confident that we are working well for the present and future, "he added.

Having stuck with the GP8 on Monday, troubled team-mate Marco Melandri completed its first laps in el'09 Ducati - which has a carbon fiber - for two days.

The Italian, eleventh in the Grand Prix, completed four races with a best time of 1min 46.163secs - nearly four seconds away from Stoner pace.

Subsequently, Melandri explained that the new bike shares many of the characteristics of GP8 - a machine he has yet to be comfortable seeing.

"Today I completed a few laps in the GP9, which certainly has some positive aspects, while in other respects is similar to the GP8. That's why I find it difficult to get a good feeling for it," he said.

Ducati test rider Vittoriano Guareschi and Ducati / Bridgestone test rider Niccolò Canepa also mounted the GP9 on Tuesday.

Canepa, once again impressed by the establishment of a best lap time of 1min 43.683secs, faster than Alice riders Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli, as well as Melandri.
