"PICTURES: Rossi's best ever helmet?"

Rossi raises a smile with clever one-off home helmet design.

He is designing special helmet with which Valentino Rossi will try to score an impressive seventh consecutive victory at home in Mugello Sunday.

The design features the seven times world champion's face at the top - looking shocked. When Rossi puts his head down, his face comes into view, creating a very amusing sight.

"I must be honest about my helmet, was Aldo Drudi the idea this time but I think it is one of the best ever!" Rossi said. "There is a drawing, is a true image of my face in the braking at the end of the line here and I think it is great fun!"

The helmet was inaugurated on Saturday in the Italian Grand Prix and is the latest in a series of special hull designs' Doctor 'has worn for his house. Rossi and his new helmet will start the race from pole position on Sunday.

250: Simoncelli wins after crash impact.

Marco Simoncelli was 250GP first victory after coming on controversial sends Hector Barbera somersaulting along the main straight with a lap to go.

Marco Simoncelli took his first 250GP win in front of his home fans in Mugello on Sunday - but only after colliding with Hector Barbera at the beginning of the last lap, sending the somersaulting Spanish, literally, along the main straight Barbera initially defended his pole position in turn, but quickly ran wide, handing countryman Alvaro Bautista's initiative Simoncelli.
Simoncelli clung to Baptist for the first six laps, but then - like the Mapfre Aprilia rider was beginning to break - suffered a lowside of the initiative. Simoncelli put in front of his home grand prix by a single second of Barbera, Thomas luthier, with the direction of a six-man battle for the third of four seconds further back.
Simoncelli Barbera resisted pressure to return 11 of 21, when the Spaniard's powerful team effort Toth Aprilia rider slipstreamed past Simoncelli Metis Gilera to take the lead for the first time since the opening round. However, Simoncelli, chasing his first 250cc victory, regained the advantage of a lap later with a surprise pass through one of Mugello sweeping left-right chicanes.
Barbera's next attack took place with five laps to go and triggered a series of lead changes - and the start of some riding tactics - as the pair sized each other for the final confrontation. The book acts reached a dramatic end when the couple slammed into each other along the main straight at the beginning of the last lap.
Simoncelli seems to swerve suddenly to the left as well as Barbera pulled together to pass. Barbera's front end bent on impact, sending the Spanish somersaulting into the main straight in his 100th Grand Prix start. Despite grazing the concrete barrier, a shocked Barbera was able to walk without severe damage, while Simoncelli was to collect a controversial debut 250GP victory.
