Casey Stoner took advantage of a slip Dani Pedrosa to win a rain soaked German Grand Prix as Valentino Rossi claimed first place in the overall standings with a second post.Having set the pace in the dry on Saturday during his studies in Germany, demonstrated that Stoner is so adept in the wet, crossing the line 3.7 seconds ahead of Rossi.
Rossi now leads the championship by 16 points, while Pedrosa Result Germany has not seen him in a second landslide. Stoner's victory propels him to within four points of Spanish.
In appalling conditions at the Sachsenring, Pedrosa luck deserted him early in it as a path skidded off the track and crashed into the safety barriers after having led the race for the opening laps.
Stoner takes full advantage - and initiative - and came to occupy his nerve for the rest of the race to record his fourth victory of the season and his third consecutive victory after a successful weekend at Assen and Donnington.
"These are very, very difficult," Stoner told the BBC. "I was aquaplaning and in losing a lot of places so the fate of leave that one on the bike, let alone win the race."
Rizla Suzuki's Chris Vermeulen also put in an excellent performance, assault of the 14 th place in the home network to Clinch Third - his first podium end of the season.
But the Australian was pushed all the way by the novice Alex De Angelis, who came close to claiming his first podium in MotGP level with an impressive trip.
British James Toseland, in his Yamaha Tech 3, could not start his best position on the grid and came home in 11 th place among 13 finalists, after Colin Edwards, Marco Melandri and Jorge Lorenzo, all succumbed to the slippery runway and Pedrosa joined again in garages before the race was finished.
