"Stoner: We will keep fighting"

Casey Stoner bid to close the gap to Valentino Rossi in Misano.

Casey Stoner has vowed not to abandon their hopes of a second consecutive MotoGP title as offers to reduce the deficit to 50 points from Valentino Rossi in the final six races of the season, starting this weekend in the round Misano.

Although widely regarded as the home of Rossi, Misano also represents the local circuit for Stoner Ducati team, assuring that there will be some 'red' to support Australia amid a sea of blue and yellow.

Returning to the scene where all but guaranteed himself the title 2007, the roles were reversed much for the Australian this season as it bids to maintain honest Rossi after his fall in Brno.

Despite his Czech disaster however, Stoner is confident he has the bike underneath him to challenge for victory since the start of the weekend.

"We had a great result at Misano last year and that, added to the fact that we are in good shape with the start-up and tyres, means that we can be reasonably confident of another good result here. After the last race and the recent test in Brno we have managed to improve the launch even more so Google agrees to put a good show for the fans home Misano.

"It's pretty tight and twisty track and the surface is quite bumpy but there are some sections lot of fun. Let's see what happens, but we are in good shape - the difference in the championship is great but we will continue fighting to be over."

Project Director MotoGP, Livio Suppo, also has placed its faith in Stoner, despite a couple of disappointing races, and is sure to be the pilot to beat this weekend.

"Over the last five rounds Casey has shown incredible speed of the opening session in practice a variety of circuits and although he has no points to show that, on an exceptional and we are sure we will also be on pace at Misano. "
